OneWord
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
OneWord is a daily word journal provided by Insania Labs LLC. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Your journal and reflections
Your words, dates, analysis, saved reflections and settings are stored on your device. You do not need an account. Core analysis and Reflections are prepared on your device. A word can have several meanings; reflections describe possible patterns in your recorded entries and are not a diagnosis or a measurement of your feelings.
The app shares a limited local snapshot and pending submissions with its widget through an Apple App Group. Its Apple Watch companion exchanges submissions and display state with your paired iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. These are app and companion-device functions, not a public journal or social profile.
Optional permissions
Apple Health: If you choose to allow access, OneWord reads available sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate and mindfulness records to look for patterns alongside your entries. Imported readings and the analysis of them remain on your device in this release. OneWord does not use Health data for advertising or sell it. You can change access in Apple's Health settings.
Location and weather: If you allow location access, the app uses your location to request weather from Apple's WeatherKit. It can retain an approximate area with your diary entry; it does not store exact coordinates with your word. Weather requests are processed by Apple. You can change location access in iOS Settings.
Microphone and speech recognition: If you use voice input, the app records temporary audio and uses Apple's speech recognition service to turn speech into text. Depending on the device, language and Apple's service availability, recognition may involve processing by Apple. The temporary recording is deleted after transcription is attempted. Your selected word is stored as a journal entry. You can change microphone and speech permissions in iOS Settings.
Notifications: Optional reminders use Apple's notification system. You can disable reminders in the app or iOS Settings.
Purchases
This release is free and does not offer new subscription purchases. Apple handles any OneWord subscriptions purchased in earlier versions. The app uses StoreKit to check existing Premium access. Insania Labs does not receive your card details. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account. Deleting your journal or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Cloud features
The release covered by this policy does not enable Insania Labs cloud AI writing. Its journal records are not uploaded to an Insania Labs AI service or OpenAI. If a later release offers optional cloud writing, we will describe the information sent, service providers and retention before enabling that feature and request your opt-in.
Tracking, diagnostics and backups
OneWord has no advertising or cross-app tracking. It does not send its local usage statistics or diagnostic records to an Insania Labs analytics service. Apple may process app diagnostics according to your device settings. Your device backups and any files you choose to export are governed by the storage or sharing service you use. OneWord does not provide its own iCloud journal synchronization in this release.
Your choices and deletion
You can export your records from Settings. Deleting a word removes its journal entry, saved analysis and imported Health attachment, and invalidates derived reflection editions. Delete All Data clears the app's journal models, reflection editions, and widget queue and snapshot. It does not delete the original records in Apple Health, copies you exported, Apple's purchase history, or backups managed outside OneWord. The Watch display is updated through its connection with the iPhone.
You can stop using any optional permission at any time. The app is a personal journaling tool and does not provide medical or mental-health treatment.
Contact and changes
